Hanging Hints

Mats

All of our artwork comes with a white mat by default. You can
change your mat colors and choose a frame in our framing
workshop if you desire. Here are some hints for selecting mat
colors.

An easy way to make choose a mat is to pick a color from an  element in the artwork for
the mat color.  Not only will the mat coordinate with the artwork, it will pull that color out and enhance it in the artwork.

Choose mat colors that coordinate with a color in your room.  If the mats look good with both the artwork and the display space you have made an excellent choice.

Black & White artwork can be matted in virtually any color so they are easy to coordinate with any space.

We recommend you consider double or triple matting your artwork.  Adding additional colors or shades by double or triple matting can add interest and depth to the artwork.

Try selecting two colors from elements of the artwork. You may want to select a color for the outer mat that also goes with your room.  Or try using two or three shades of the same color.

Coming soon you can experiment in our virtual Framing Workshop with different colors until you find the combination that works best for you.
